In September 2025, Zenobē and Arriva launched a charging infrastructure to support 76 electric vehicles at Arriva London North, Tottenham Bus Garage. Working alongside Arriva to design electrical systems, procure equipment, and install the complete charging solution, Zenobē delivered a scalable ultra-fast charging infrastructure that minimises disruption to depot operations. The solution combines 17 Zerova DO360 power cabinets with 68 Zerova DX Series charger pedestals, supported by a smart charging and load management system to optimise charging windows for maximum operational and cost efficiency.

The challenge

Limited floor space
North London’s Tottenham Bus Garage had constrained floor space for the required infrastructure. Zenobē needed to deploy charging systems without compromising vehicle parking capacity or disrupting daily depot operations.

Complex site coordination
Existing building structures required careful spatial planning. Early coordination with the Arriva team was essential to ensure all modifications were completed before Zenobē’s mobilisation.

Operational efficiency
Vehicle run-in and run-out patterns needed monitoring to determine the most efficient charger and vehicle arrangement, maximising charging throughput whilst maintaining operational flexibility.

"Zenobē helped us throughout the process on the grid connection from the application right through to the delivery It was really important for us as Arriva to have a long-term partner... to have somebody involved that is just wanting to install the infrastructure and then head off into the sunset wouldn't have worked."

The solution

Drop-down reel technology
Zenobē installed innovative drop-down reels from the existing depot roof structure, eliminating the need for costly purpose-built gantries. This bespoke approach preserved floor space for vehicle parking whilst reducing unnecessary steelwork costs.

Early stakeholder engagement
Zenobē engaged in early discussions with the Arriva Property team to coordinate spatial requirements and plan building modifications before mobilisation to site. This proactive approach ensured all structural changes were completed in advance, eliminating delays and coordination conflicts during installation.

Smart load management and vehicle tracking
In-depth vehicle tracking analysis determined the most efficient charger and vehicle arrangement for the depot. A sophisticated charging and load management system was deployed to optimise charging windows in the most cost-effective manner, supporting dynamic demand across all 76 vehicles.

The outcome

The Tottenham Bus Garage now operates a future-ready charging depot supporting 76 battery electric vehicles through 17 power cabinets and 68 charger pedestals. By leveraging existing building infrastructure and innovative drop-down reel technology, Zenobē delivered a solution that maximises parking capacity whilst maintaining operational flexibility. The integrated smart charging system ensures vehicles are charged at optimal times, reducing energy costs and supporting Arriva’s long-term fleet electrification goals. Following this successful deployment, Zenobē and Arriva have confirmed plans for an expansion phase to scale ultra-fast charging solutions across additional locations.
