Woolworths, Zenobē Australia
Find out how Zenobē’s latest project has catalysed electric vehicle charging in Mascot, Sydney, not only for a grocery brand but also businesses in the logistics and fleet industries.
Battery energy storage systems (BESS) are essential to the UK’s clean power transition, providing the balancing, stability and flexibility needed for a renewables-led grid. The UK Government has set a target to expand capacity from 6GW to over 23GW by 2030 – a rapid growth trajectory that brings both opportunity and responsibility.
With growth comes scrutiny. Public and political interest in BESS safety is rising, making trust and transparency just as important as the technology itself. The UK already has a strong safety record, with all systems regulated by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and backed by rigorous insurer standards. Today, incidents are rare, and 80% of new large-scale systems use safer Lithium Ferrous Phosphate (LFP) chemistry. Still, addressing community concerns openly is critical to securing support for future projects.
At this year’s Labour Party Conference, Zenobē is partnering with Lockton to host a focused panel discussion on how the BESS industry can strengthen public and political engagement. We’ll explore practical steps for:
Date: Tuesday 30 September 2025
Time: 9:30 – 11:00am
Location: Madre, 6 Atlantic Pavilion, Albert Dock, Liverpool L3 4AE (outside the secure zone – no conference pass required)
If you work in energy policy, infrastructure development or community engagement, this is your chance to be part of a vital conversation shaping the UK’s energy future.
