The UK has a 50GW battery pipeline, which if built would see batteries having one of the highest shares of capacity in the country’s electricity generation mix. Battery storage is a mature technology and offers a clean pathway towards cheaper, greener electricity for the UK.
This week, Semih Oztreves, Director of Network Infrastructure spoke to City AM and called for the need to boost renewable energy technologies, including battery storage, without delay in response to the government’s Energy Security Plan to ‘power up’ Britain to hit net zero by 2050.
