+ Rethinking Energy –
At Zenobē, our purpose is to make clean power accessible. We do this through the innovative use of battery storage. By making clean power and transport economically and environmentally sustainable we’re driving the transition to zero-carbon.
We recognise that the path to net zero isn’t straight, it’s circular. By promoting a circular economy for batteries, we want to ensure our solutions will deliver CO2 and cost savings throughout their lifecycle.
We design, finance, build and operate battery solutions for the Power and Transport sectors. From capturing renewable energy, balancing its supply and demand on the grid and transporting this power to our electric vehicle fleets, our we deliver value at each step.
+ What is a circular economy for batteries?
Our story
Established in 2017, today we are the leading owner and operator of battery storage in the UK. We have raised over £300 million into our business, have a 25% share of the UK’s e-bus market and c.540 e-buses contracted globally. With approximately 235MW of batteries in operation or construction we’re supporting National Grid with the uptake of renewable power.
We’ve got a goal for at least 3,000 e-buses and 2GWh of operational battery storage by 2025 and global ambitions, with a growing portfolio of overseas projects. See our work in action here.
We work with businesses that are committed to delivering tangible change, whether that’s reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution, securing affordable and reliable clean power or using batteries in innovative new ways.
- From 2025 we’ll save over 1 million tonnes of CO2 per year
- We’ll also save over 92 million litres of diesel annually

Our shareholders
It was thanks to the capital from friends and families of the Founders that Zenobē started. They were quickly followed by Tiger Infrastructure Partners, a New York based fund, who invested £20 million. Just over a year later, JERA Storage BV, a joint venture between Japanese energy giants TepCo and Chubu, invested £25 million to support our continued growth.
In November 2020, Zenobē received a further £150 million from Infracapital, infrastructure arm of M&G Investments, to enable our further expansion into electric vehicles and grid-scale batteries in the UK and beyond.
Our shareholders provide deep sector expertise, knowledge of the UK and international markets and a strong capital base to ensure to ensure we delivers our ambition.
