About

Everyone has the right to breathe clean air. To deliver this ambition, we need to make the clean option the economic one. This is why we established Zenobe – to accelerate the uptake of clean vehicles and power generation and make our ambition a reality. Fast.

Our Story

Zenobe’s vision is to make clean energy accessible. We do this in two ways. First, we use grid scale batteries to overcome the challenges of intermittent renewables and so accelerate the uptake of clean generation. Second, we improve air quality by turning diesel vehicle fleets electric.

Today we are the leading owner and operator of battery storage in the UK. Established in 2017, we have raised over £300 million into our business, own and operate a third of the UK’s electric vehicle bus fleet and have approximately 175MW of batteries operating or in construction to enable National Grid to transport more renewable power.

We work with businesses that are serious about dramatically improving their impact on the environment. We need top down, bottom up commitment to transforming the way businesses generate, distribute and consume power.

Together we deliver change at scale quickly. Communities can see an 80% drop in air pollutants through a change from diesel to electric buses, taxis and home delivery fleets. The power they need comes from renewable energy power made secure by grid scale batteries.

Our Shareholders

It was thanks to the capital from friends and families of the Founders that Zenobe started. They were quickly followed by Tiger Infrastructure Partners, a New York based fund, who invested £20 million. Just over a year later, JERA Storage BV, a joint venture between Japanese energy giants TepCo and Chubu, invested £25 million to support our continued growth.

In November 2020, Zenobē received a further £150 million from Infracapital, infrastructure arm of M&G Investments, to enable our further expansion into green, clean electric vehicles and grid-scale batteries in the UK and beyond.

Our shareholders provide deep sector expertise, knowledge of the UK and international markets and a strong capital base to ensure to ensure Zenobe delivers on its ambition.
